With a large range of different options available, it’s no surprise that marquee weddings are a popular choice with couples in recent years. With so many different styles on offer, whether you see yourselves as a traditional couple or less conventional, there is a tent or marquee for everyone.

With a marque wedding, you can literally build your dream wedding from the ground up. No two marquee weddings are the same and they will be unique to you and your wedding day.

I have had the pleasure of photographing many marquee weddings and I can safely say they are my absolute favourite type of venue.

All you need for a marquee wedding is a patch of grass. This means you can have a celebration in the great outdoors in a place that is special to you. I have photographed weddings in back gardens, farmer’s fields and in the grounds of estates and each and every one has been fantastically unique to the couple.

2. You have a blank canvas to create your unique day

Another great advantage of a marquee wedding is you can be as creative as you like without having to work around the existing decor of a traditional venue. Whether it’s a modern, classic, country or vintage vibe you are after, the list is endless when it comes to style and decor and the choice is completely yours.

3. You can work within your budget

Whatever your budget a marquee gives you the flexibility to work within your price range. You get to choose your caterer, bar, florist and decor. You have complete freedom over your day and, like with many weddings I have photographed, you can save money by including family and friends with some of the pre-wedding duties. Your wedding can be as simple or as fancy as you like.

4. You have no restriction on guest numbers

Unlike traditional venues, with your own marquee wedding, you will have less restrictions on your number of guests. While you need to make sure your structure can accommodate everyone, marquees are flexible and can be created to fit the size of your celebration.

Another great advantage of a marquee wedding is that you can decide your finish time. With no curfews or noise restrictions you and your guests can carry on partying into the early hours. You can even use the space the following day for some post wedding celebrations.
