As a Kent wedding photographer, I get to photograph at a lot of beautiful venues, but Oak Tree Barn has become one of the ones I always look forward to. It’s situated in the Kent countryside, just outside Tonbridge, and with its rustic charm, it is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

Spaces that flow perfectly through out the day
One of the main reasons I love photographing here is how well the different areas work for each part of the day. The very well named ‘Love Shack’ is a beautiful place for ceremonies with plenty of space but still that intimate, personal feel. It also comes with the opportunity for the perfect confetti shots as couples walk back up the aisle.
For the drinks reception guests move up to the Nags Head Bar, a converted horse box located at the top of the field with lots seating set in a woodland area for drinks and mingling, perfect for relaxed candid shots and group photos without feeling crowded. If the weather turns, there are sheltered areas outside such as the well named ‘Soggy Salon’ situated inside a now, tin hat tipi, a fun space where guests can still gather comfortably, and everything can keep flowing without stress.
Oak Tree Barn is set in 5 acres and the fields nearby are great for couples portraits, quiet, natural spaces where you can step away from the guests for a few minutes and get some beautiful, relaxed photos, ideal for golden hour shots.
Everything is close enough that the day flows smoothly, but each area has its own vibe, which makes the whole gallery feel varied and interesting.

Great for natural canid shots
My style as a Kent wedding photographer is all about capturing real moments, and this venue makes that easy. Guests spread out, chat, and wander. Nothing feels cramped, there’s no pressure, no formal atmosphere, and plenty of space to breathe. That calm, comfortable vibe translates into authentic photographs that truly reflect the day.

Beautiful on Its Own or Styled to Match the Couple
One of the things I love most about the barn itself is how versatile it is. It genuinely is beautiful just as it is, simple, rustic and full of character, with the fairy lights, and disco balls that add a fun, magical feel. Couples who prefer a more minimal look don’t have to do much at all.
But it’s also the perfect blank canvas for couples who want to put their own style into the day. Flowers, bold colours, handmade details… whatever they choose, it always seems to fit. Every time I shoot there, the space feels fresh and personal.

The Absolute Dream Team Behind the Scenes
Another reason I love photographing weddings at Oak Tree Barn is the fantastic team that runs it. Renee and her team are friendly, organised, and genuinely care about every couple’s experience.
They’re the kind of people who quietly fix problems before anyone even notices there’s a problem. That kind of support makes such a difference, not just for the couple, but for the whole atmosphere of the day.
Everything feels smooth and organised, always a huge plus for both couples and suppliers. Happy people make for happier photos!
If you’re planning a Kent wedding and want a venue with a unique character, space, and a really natural feel, Oak Tree Barn is definitely worth checking out.
